Getting Red Carpet Ready: Our Journey to the MAVEN Awards

Over the past few weeks, Mica and I have been busy behind the scenes – not just running the clinic but getting our skin glowing and gorgeous for a very special occasion.

We were absolutely thrilled (and more than a little humbled) to be nominated in two categories at the MAVEN Awards – a night that celebrates Winchester’s incredible female entrepreneurial talent. We were especially proud to be finalists in the Client Care MAVEN category – which recognises women who go above and beyond when it comes to customer service. That one felt particularly close to our hearts. And we were over the moon to win it!

But before we hit the red carpet at the beautiful Theatre Royal, it was time to treat ourselves to a little skin TLC. Getting ready for an event like this can take a bit of planning and a little bit of curating, depending on what you want to achieve with your skin.

I wanted to brighten and freshen mine – and I always want to optimise the tightness of it, not just because I’ve lost weight, but also because my skin is older than Mica’s. So, I opted for my first treatment about a month before the event – something to lift and tighten the skin, tighten up the pores, boost the collagen, and open, tighten and brighten around the eye area.

Mica was feeling a little bit dry in her skin and a little bit spotty, so her first treatment was radiofrequency microneedling, which also tightens the skin and smooths pores. But it’s really good if your skin is feeling a bit spotty, and it gives a great opportunity to put skin boosters topically onto the skin to really boost the health and wellbeing of your skin. Mica also had gently injected skin boosters to really boost the hydration and create the glow.

We’ve both opted for a similar second treatment – a mix of dermaplaning and microneedling with skin boosters, and also a little smidge of Botox to relax the very superficial fibres on the surface of the skin. It really gives you a very intense glow. It’s one of those face treatments that’s really recognised as producing this very sort of glass skin look – which can be really lovely if you like that kind of shiny, glowing skin, which we both really do.

There are lots of options for red carpet treatments. Injectable skin boosters are always a must, but these can be combined with microneedling – with or without Botox – with topical skin boosters. Any meaty treatment well in advance of a big event will really lift your skin and optimise its radiance, but picking the right treatment for you can take a little bit of time and definitely needs a little bit of planning.

So if you’ve got red carpet events, socials, weddings, big holidays that you want to look and feel your best for, please get in touch – we would be more than happy to curate the perfect red-carpet programme for you.
