What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers are used to plump and smooth the face, and minimise the signs of ageing. They are minimally invasive and are injected into skin with the purpose of plumping that area to the point where the wrinkle, depression, or fold is softened or gone.

How do Dermal Fillers work?

First, we will identify the areas of your face that you want to work on – for example, deep creases, thin lips or scarred skin surfaces. Then, we’ll inject small amounts of naturally-derived hyaluronic acid into those areas to immediately improve their appearance.

Are Dermal Fillers different to Botox?

Dermal Fillers are different to antiwrinkle injections which are injected around the forehead and eyes to stop muscle movement, while the Fillers plump and smooth. Because they work in such different ways, you can have both treatments over the time and the combination produces a remarkably younger-looking face. What we really want, is to improve the quality of your skin so that you reduce the amount of injected products that you need, and create a much more natural look. The care of your skin is the primary focus of our clinic.

What are Dermal Fillers used to treat?

  • Deep creases that run from the nose to the mouth (called nasolabial folds)

  • Thin lips and vertical lines around the edges of the lips

  • Cheeks that need their shape enhancing to restore youthful fullness

  • Indented scars from acne or chicken pox

  • Marionette lines from the mouth towards the chin

Am I suitable for Dermal Fillers?

If you’re considering dermal fillers to correct signs of ageing and give instant glowing results beyond those of skincare alone, then we’d be delighted to chat through your options with you.

Good skincare can make huge difference in the appearance of your skin (believe us, we know the remarkable benefits a state-of-the-art skincare routine can provide) but age, muscle movement, fat loss, gravity, and sun damage among other factors will eventually take their toll – and the need for something a little stronger will arise. Without question, fillers can help improve the appearance of deep lines and give skin a more supple, youthful appearance.

Does getting Dermal Fillers hurt?

Dermal Fillers are one of the best ways of looking younger without surgery, and it’s actually much less painful than you may think! Although there may be a little discomfort, we do try and minimise this by applying anaesthetic cream, and icing the area, before treatment. If you’re worried about the treatment, we’ll chat everything through together first.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

Everybody is different, but most face fillers will last between 6 and 18 months. We’ll choose the best filler substance for the area of your face we’re working on to ensure you experience the very best results.

Do Dermal Fillers have side effects?

Very rarely, you can experience allergic reactions, lumping and migration from fillers. The main concern with fillers is the risk of blocking a blood vessel. This will be discussed with you at the consultation, but you should be reassured that we carry everything necessary to reverse the filler if this situation occurred.

We are a member of the Aesthetics Complications Experts Group and are Save Face Registered, so are fully supported to manage any problem should it occur as a consequence of your treatment.
