Laser treatments can sound daunting if you’ve never experienced them before, but they achieve fantastic results! IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) skin rejuvenation is a gentle, non invasive procedure that uses high-powered pulses of light to improve the appearance of skin.
What is IPL Skin Rejuvenation?
IPL uses high-powered pulses of light to promote the production of collagen, which fills out unwanted wrinkles, fine lines and shallow scarring, as well as reducing redness and removing veins, discolouration and spots. You’ll be left with super soft, plump skin.
How does IPL Skin Rejuvenation work?
IPL uses a range of wavelengths that penetrate just below the skin’s surface and are focussed to target either melanin or veins. This causes controlled damage to the pigment or vein, forcing the skin’s natural defences to come to the rescue. The body instinctively works to remove the damaged melanin and vein, but also increases the rate of collagen production at the same time. These two actions can produce incredible results to the appearance and texture of the treated areas.
What can Skin Rejuvenation treat?
Broken veins, thread veins, spider veins and capillaries
Redness associated with rosacea
Sun spots, age spots and pigmentation
Imperfections associated with sun damage and ageing
Imperfections in skin colour, tone and texture
Fine lines and wrinkles
Minor scarring and imperfections associated with acne
Am I suitable for IPL Skin Rejuvenation?
Most people are suitable for the treatment, except if you have very dark or tanned skin. Lasers can even cause permanent damage for darker skin tones. If you do have darker skin, you should avoid IPL treatments that carry the risk of hyper pigmentation or burning. However, if you have skin concerns, please do book a consultation with our experts and we’ll chat through alternative options that will still deliver amazing results.
Does IPL Skin Rejuvenation hurt?
The treatment is relatively painless. You may feel a slight tingling sensation during the treatment, but you will be able to carry on your normal daily routine straight afterwards. Most people describe the treatment as a warming or tingling of the skin and in some cases - the sensation of a flick of an elastic band.
Your skin may show some signs of redness after the session (a little like mild sunburn), but this will fade over the days following the treatment.
How long does IPL Laser Rejuvenation last?
Although improvement can be seen after just one treatment, we recommend a course of 2–5 IPL sessions (spaced four weeks apart). You may need top-up treatments every 6 or 12 months, depending on the condition treated, to maintain results.
